The NSW 7mm Modellers Forum dates back to early 2004, the first one being held on Saturday the 27th of March 2004. This was an auspicious event for a number of reasons not the least of which was the fact that the Aus7 Modellers Group was essentially started at a meeting at this first Forum.
The NSW 7mm Modellers Forum, fondly known as the BDI (Big Day In) which it was christened by member Rick White, was an idea first mooted by Graham Holland in the wake of the ending of the earlier series of O-Gauge Modellers' Workshops. Graham had conviction that NSW outline modellers needed an event that focused on their prototype and he asked Nick Sheridan to organize the first Forum.
That first forum was held in the auditorium at the North Sydney Leagues club. Aside from moving the event to a smaller room the event continues to be held at this venue and is characterized by its friendly atmosphere, informal structure and value for money approach.
The November 2006 Forum marked a small milestone the Forum's development as this was the first one organized under the auspices of the Aus7 Modellers Group. Most people seemed to assume that the Forum was an Aus7 event so we thought it was about time that we actually did something to earn the credit rather than sitting back letting Nick do all the work.
While the name of the event might imply a focus on NSW outline modelling this has never stopped topics of a broader character being discussed and the focus has always been, and will remain, excellent modelling in O-scale, whether this be 1:43.5 or 1:48.
Everyone is welcome at the NSW 7mm Modellers Forum where the aim is sharing information and inspiration.
This page is being developed so that future forum topics will be available for download and even topics from past forums may even become available. (Dependant on the authors).
The next forum will be on Saturday 5th April 2008. Just click on the link to see the days agenda
